Electric bikes and the lengths we go to…

We at Adventure Cycles go the extra mile to test our Electric Bikes to ensure that the customer gets the right bike for them. All models we stock have been extensively tested by ourselves to ensure that they are more than up to the rigors that daily usage in Guernsey’s stop-start hilly environment throws at them!

Our electric bike range starts at £849 with the Freego Wren and Freego Hawk models.   When looking into the electric bike range we had a few basic requirements that needed to be met. Firstly despite nowhere in Guernsey being far, we do have quite a few hills, so these models have great torque which translates into hill-climbing ability. Also having a disc brake at the front of an electric bike is a major plus point, this is due to the weight of the bike requires extra stopping power on the downs. The Hawk/Wren offers a mechanical disc brake on the front with a rear v-brake to be more affordable, another point was the battery as gone are the days of heavy lead acid batteries as now we offer on all our bikes the lighter lithium battery. This not only reduces the weights of the bike which in turn increases the range but also the life of the battery. Our final point with choosing Freego/Wisper group was the support we have from them, being just over the pond in Southampton parts are readily available and quick to be sent out to us so this means less time for your E-bike to be in for repair.

Our mid-range E-bikes come from Scott, namely the e-Sub Tour range, the huge advantage of paying a little bit more money vastly improves the quality of the bike. Not only do you move up to the Shimano STEPS motor system but also to full hydraulic brakes, this means being a crank (pedal) driven system gives you a huge range before needing a top up but also a smaller lighter lithium battery. Service intervals on the bike are increased due to the simplicity of the mineral oil hydraulic brakes but also should a problem occur with the Shimano STEPS motor system we are able to plug in a diagnostics machine to quickly find the fault and rectify in the shortest possible time.

Our top end E-bikes also come from the Scott e-Sub Sport range but this time it is driven from the more refined Bosch pedal assisted system, this means the motor assistance is almost silent but also a compact light weight design.

Why not pop in into Adventure Cycles discuss the range in more detail and of course test ride some of the models and see for yourself how much they have improved.
