We at Adventure Cycles are really pleased to anounce that we are now your Local Ibis Cycles dealer! Ibis is one of those iconic brands associated with mountain-biking since the early days. Scott Nicol founded the company in 1981 (the year we were both born!) and still continues to run it to this day. Ibis Cycles is still 100% employee owned, five of the employees own the company. Over the last 34 years Ibis has produced Trials bikes, Tandems, Road bikes and MTBs.
In 1988 you could get a rully rigid Ibis Avion mtb, featuring the new Shimano Deore XT groupset, Shimano ‘U’ brakes, toe-clips & straps, Panaracer X1 Pro tyres, it weighed in at 29lbs and would set you back $990. Now over 25 years later they offer the Ibis Mojo HD3, featuring a Carbon frame, 160mm of suspension front and rear, 11 speed SRAM XX1 gearing and Carbon wheels for less weight!
In 1995 Ibis produced their first aluminium framed mtb, the 5’’ travel full suspension Szazbo, this bike was aimed at perhaps the same aggressive trail riding segment that the Mojo HD3 is set to dominate today!
So how do they ride? All the current Ibis full suspension bikes utilize the ‘DW link” suspension platform, this creates an extremely pedalable bike, with great grip & traction whilst still allowing you to rip on the descents. We have the latest Mojo HD3 to ‘Demo’ at Adventure Cycles, ours utilizes SRAM 1×11 transmission, Cane Creek DB air rear shock & Fox Float 34 forks out front, this bike weighs in at 27lbs. After competing in the last few local DH races aboard it, I can testify to it’s awesome descending capabilities & can’t wait to test its all round abilities on the MTB Tour of Guernsey. Call in to Adventure cycles today to arrange a ‘Test Ride’
