Due to being on a two week bicycle mechanic course my weekend was free and decided to have a road trip to Wales, who could resist taking Adventure Cycles new GT Sensor Pro demo bike over to Bike Park Wales and put it through its paces. Having managed to prep the bike during one of the lunch breaks on the course I was ready to go as soon as the course finished on the Friday. Saturday morning eventually came so was up bright and early before the main rush arrived, £5 to ride and park was a fair price to pay having heard lots of good reports and of course the money goes towards maintenance on the trails so in reality its a damn good price!
Downside was that all the uplift passes had been sold out so the first pedal up to the top was a good start to get some warmth in the legs ready to hit the trails on the way down. I decided on taking the fire road up along with the uplift vans so just be careful to keep and ear out for them to keep out of their way, there is an option of taking an XC technical climb but for me I found the fire roads to be the easiest and give the best views.
First drop of the day proved that I need to do a few tweaks with tyre pressures and suspension setting but this was the main aim of the road trip, I hit the trail called Sixtapod each time making small adjustments each time to get my perfect set up. The bike its self a 2014 GT Sensor Pro, was a great bike to take as the new AOS suspension made ride up was made easy by minimal pedal bob in climb mode and then switch to decent mode on the Fox suspension front and rear transformed the bike into a great medium travel trail rig. Along with the Spank Oozy 650b wheel set the bike felt nicely planted to the trail and with the Spank Subrosa 747 bars and Oozy stem it made the bike easy to throw around and handle like a dream.
All in all I found the GT Sensor gives me everything I want in a trail bike, easy to pedal up and at the flick of a switch a beast down hill.
Call into Adventure Cycles to see it in person and to discuss your next trail bike requirements. Also the next trip organised by Dan will be on the 14th – 17th March so speak to him for more details and to reserve your place. On his return he will be doing a full review of the 2014 GT Force X Carbon Pro so check back for that report.
